Welcome to Recipes with Ree! You may recognize my name as Maria from our social media, but I also go by Ree as well! I am so excited to begin this cooking journey with you all. Cooking is my art and my escape. I have been cooking simple and complex recipes since I was an early teen, which led me to having a variety of food jobs. I base my meals on how I am feeling, because let’s be honest, we all eat based on our emotions. Somedays I want veggies and lean meats, others I want a creamy shrimp scampi. I always try to spice up my cooking, whether that be experimenting with Asian food, cooking more vegetarian options, or going back to my roots, which are Italian dishes. I am Sicilian and Canadian, so I am always eager to learn more recipes that are traced back to the motherlands.
I love January for all of the things that it offers: a new beginning, snow days, and of course, the warm meals, specifically, soup. It’s soup season, babes!
This first meal’s recipe can be found in Chrissy Teigen’s new cookbook, Cravings: All Together. Just so everyone is aware, Chrissy is my icon when it comes to cooking. She’s hilarious, honest, and daring in the kitchen. This is her 3rd (!) cookbook, so I am so excited to learn a few more recipes to share with you all!

This recipe stood out to me because there is nothing better than a creamy soup on a cold winter’s day. Also, the pie crusts hashtags poked my curiosity. I bought bread from a local bakery, The Bakery Barn, in Lewiston. They bake fresh, artisanal breads every day, so I knew bread would pair nicely with the soup!
I hope you all enjoy the Recipes with Ree segments. At Beaux and Arrows, we strive to keep our followers engaged, interested, and willing to step outside of their comfort zone! There will be messes, there will be fun, and there will be lots of delicious food.
